Brasserie 25 Restaurant Stripes Hotel KL

Hotel Stripes Kuala Lumpur is YTL Hotels’ first autograph hotel. It opened exactly a week ago at Jalan Kamunting and features 184 chic yet contemporary rooms.
Guests can choose to dine at Brasserie 25, a charming French restaurant exudes warmth and personality through its red bricks arcade, dark wooden floor with a matching open kitchen and furniture. Stunningly stylish, Brasserie 25 is worth a special visit just to admire the quality of the workmanship.

I was fortunate enough to be extended an invitation to preview the menu at Brasserie 25. And here are some of the dishes we had, mostly signature creations of the chef which were highly recommended to us.

Brasserie 25 Baked Escargots

Escargots (6pcs) @ RM40, prepared using the most prized Burgundian snails and seasoned with garlic and herb butter. Their firm flesh took on the flavors well and had a texture similar to mussels, albeit more substantial with a bit of chew in the middle.

Brasserie 25 Pan Seared Foie Gras
Foie Gras with Onion Marmalade

Foie Gras Poêle @ RM50 – one of the must tries if you adore foie gras. Served in thick slabs, the decadently rich foie gras had a caramelized exterior with a distinct sweetness. Just spread a layer of the tangy onion marmalade on the crunchy bread then top it up with a generous chunk of foie gras – simply heavenly.

Brasserie 25 Smoked Salmon Salad

For something classic you can’t go wrong with the Saumon Fumê (home smoked salmon) @ RM40. Every slice has a firm and velvety texture and glistens beautifully under the light.

Brasserie 25 Roasted Rack of Lamb

Roasted Rack of Lamb @ RM120 – perfectly executed and was downright delicious. The combination of honey, herbs and mustard sauce creates a balanced seasoning blend that brings out the mild flavor of the succulent lamb. Served with a side of creamy and silky mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables.

Brasserie 25 Braised Beef Cheek Ragout

Braised Beef Cheek in Red Wine @ RM120 – decadent, so meltingly tender you could enjoy it with just a fork. The portion was surprsingly large so it is quite a filling dish by itself. My only gripe would be the sauce. It could have been richer, as the mashed potatoes seemed to have diluted the taste quite a bit.

Brasserie 25 Dessert Creme Brulee

We managed two dessserts: Crème Brûlée (pictured above) @ RM20 and Crêpe Suzettes @ RM30. The crepe was actually fantastic so it is unfortunate that I do not have a photo to show. Something to do with the waiter being not able to keep his hands steady while delivering the crepe.

Brasserie 25 Stripes Hotel KL

Brasserie 25 also offers le goûter, afternoon tea with a French twist daily from 3pm – 6pm. At RM60 nett for two, it is a great excuse for everyone to catch up with friends.
