Ramadan? Diners can have a choice to dine between two restaurants in G Hotel Gurney and G Hotel Kelawai, where we have decorated it specially for the diners to experience only the best gastronomic journey of buffet.
Taste Café is a newest eatery in town featuring the Penang’s first ever BBQ grill using Lava Stone which is imported all the way from Indonesia, marking the novel way of eating for a promising succulent meat and seafood treat. However, if one would like to accentuate more on the minimalist dining environment, then head over to Spoon which is a reminiscent of French Bistro that brings out the festive mood even with just a minimal festive decoration.
The Ramadan menu at Taste Café features a lavishing buka puasa spread with palate-pleasing flavour for the buffet dinner. Light eaters can nibble on their choice of salad at the salad bar stations, creating their favourite salad by mixing and matching from a variety of selections including IceBerg Lettuce, Red Chicory, Lollo Rossa, Cherry Tomatoes and an array of house made condiments and dressings.
Feast on our savoury Malay appetizer with a selection of Kerabu Perut Lembu, Kerabu Udang,Telur Masin, Sambal Kacang Ikan Bilis with a choice of house specialty sauces and condiments, which are Air Assam, Sambal Belachan, Cincaluk Acar Limau, Tempoyak and Budu.
Try the Rojak Buah – a mixed fruits salad topped with shrimp paste and crunchy peanuts, giving you a crunchy
feel on every bite.
Have a bowl of flavorful Soto Ayam Mardura Soup – a mixture of shredded chicken, coconut milk, lemongrass cooked with spices and fresh herbs or try the Bubur Lambok Telur Masin, a spicy and heady mix of flavor dish that features black pepper, salted egg, cumin and many guarded ingredients. Indulge in Malay Panggang Feast Grill by using the Penang’s first ever Lava Stone BBQ grill for a promising mouth-watering treats. The Lava Stone comes exclusively from Indonesia, which perfectly enhances the quality of the food by holding the natural flavour, moisture and nutrients in the food, while preventing flare-ups that cause charring. Get the chef to grill some of the alltime favorite freshly caught seafood such as Sanma Fish, Saba Fish, Prawns, or the ever popular Satay Beef or Chicken. All the grilled delights are complemented with finger licking sauces of Air Assam, Sambal Dip, BBQ Sauce and Black Pepper Sauce.
Meat lovers will be in a treat as there will be carving stations, serving premium meats. Savour the Roasted Lamb Legs which are richly flavored with an intensely aromatic. The slow roasting on the lamb legs retains its natural juices leaving you with tender, juicy meat and crispy outer layer.
Guests can head straight inside and watch the chefs whip up Malay favorites such as the
delightful Assam Laksa, Roti John, Yam Goreng and Pisang Goreng. Also, don’t miss out on the Malay delights of Nasi Kurma, Grill BBQ Chicken Chop, Udang Tiga Rasa, Sotong Goreng Kunyit Berchili and Grill Lamb Chop with its cleverly paired Mint Sauce.
Reveal in the crispy skin of Ikan Panggang, a freshly caught fish flavored with spices and roasted to perfection or enjoy the authentic Daging Minang topped with the delicious Rendang sauce.
Finish off the meal with a line of desserts, from the traditional Malay dessert to durian mousse. A new and a must try dessert that will be featured is the Franzipane, an almond-flavored sweet pastry, prepared using a special in-house toasting technique that makes the tart crust crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Other sweet treats include Pandan Kaya Cake, Chocolate Marquise, Marble Swiss Roll, Sweet Corn Pudding to name a few.
There will also be Gelato flavored ice creams drizzled with chocolate sauce, chocolate chips and rainbow sprinkles. Patrons may choose to pick their own mix condiments, toppings and flavors from the ice cream bar.

For starters, guests can opt from Chorba Au Legumes or Moroccan Vegetables Soup. For the more adventurous, there are other options such as the mouthwatering Shakshuka – Tunisian eggs cooked in a sauce of tomatoes, chili peppers, and aromatic spices. Meanwhile, noodle lovers will rejoice as Penang Mee Goreng Mamak is set to make a nightly appearance. Zazualla is a must try of the night – the perfectly grilled seafood stew coated in its signature thick sauce will satisfy the seafood lover. There will also be action stalls, serving baked fish which will be prepared by our masterful chefs.
Ramadan Buffet Dinner at Taste Café and Spoon are available from 6 June to 5 July, priced at RM115nett from Sunday to Thursday, RM150nett for Friday & Saturday. Hari Raya BBQ Buffet Dinner is available at Taste Café on 6 & 7 July, priced at RM150nett per person.
Both G Hotel Gurney & G Hotel Kelawai also offers Ramadan Meeting Package from RM105nett per person onwards. This package includes the usage of a conference room for up till eight hours, free Wi-Fi internet and also complimentary fitness session, head and shoulder massage and usage of Nintendo Wii. This will allow participants to have a break after sessions of meetings.
Private Buka Puasa Buffet Dinner is priced at RM75nett per person. With a minimum persons of 30, this buffet dinner is inclusive of free flow air bandung, individually packed red dates and usage of surau. Both the Private Buka Puasa Dinner and Ramadan Meeting Package are available till 6 July 2015.
